Carpe Diem - Seize the Day (Horace) - Mobius Bracelet

Sale price $99.00 Regular price $2,430.00
Roman poet Horace's exhortation to "Carpe Diem" or "Seize the Day" is a reminder that time is fleeting and we must seize the moment that is upon us. This elegant sterling silver bracelet is inscribed with Carpe Diem and also the days of the week in Latin and in English, as a reminder of the continual passing of time:
"Carpe Diem, Solis, Lunae, Martis, Mercurii, Iovis, Veneris, Saturni," inscribed in Latin, and "Seize the Day, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday," inscribed in English with corresponding symbols.

Quintus Horatius Flaccus, born in 65 BCE, better known as Horace, is among the greatest of the Roman poets. His quotation from The Odes, Book I.11 'dum loquimur, fugerit invida aetas: carpe diem quam minimum credula poster,' or 'While we speak, envious time will have already fled: seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the next,' reaches across the centuries to inspire us today.
The unique design of the Mobius strip appears to have one side, which allows the bracelet to be inscribed with a surprising number of words to be read without interruption on its length. The beautiful elliptical shape sits comfortably about the hand; the unique twist to the design represents the paradox of a plane or loop without end, an apt symbol for infinity. Since the infinite for many equates with the divine, the Mobius bracelet is the perfect medium on which to inscribe prayers and other inspiring and memorable quotations.
